Military Training Initiatives in Morocco for 2025
Rabat — Morocco’s National Defense Administration announced that approximately 1,009 foreign officers and non-commissioned officers received basic and continuing military training in the country during 2025.
The announcement reflects the strategic importance of military education in strengthening ties with brotherly and friendly nations, particularly across Africa.
Deputy Minister Abdellatif Loudiyi presented the defense budget to the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, revealing that Royal Gendarmerie training centers and schools hosted 250 foreign trainees representing various African countries.
The administration disclosed that King Mohammed VI, serving as Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), issued directives to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of training curricula and military education programs for all soldiers at every level.
The instructions aim to inject new energy into education systems and methods, adapting them to modern transformations through innovative approaches in science, technology, and artificial intelligence.
FAR training services continue implementing the military training plan while constantly adjusting it to meet evolving needs.
Officials said this ensures the training aligns with the changing nature of missions assigned to these forces and responds to requirements for deploying new defensive capabilities.
Morocco’s FAR places great importance on training their personnel from the moment they enlist.
The training includes basic instruction followed by continuous education, with a focus on enhancing practical military training, developing teaching methods and tools, improving officer and non-commissioned officer training programs, updating and standardizing curricula, and strengthening language education.
Morocco operates multiple institutions dedicated to training military officers and female military personnel to meet the needs of various branches, including the Ground Forces, Royal Gendarmerie, General Directorate of Studies and Documents, Royal Guard, Auxiliary Forces, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, and Military Health Services.
During the reporting period for 2025, 23,273 trainees completed basic and continuing military training. This figure includes officers — among them officers from the Auxiliary Forces — as well as non-commissioned officers and soldiers.
The Royal Gendarmerie trained 12,882 personnel at various training centers, schools, and military and civilian educational institutions in Morocco. These personnel also received specialized training abroad covering security, judicial, military, scientific, and technical fields.
Each year, the FAR provides essential support in initial and continuing training for employees from several civilian institutions.
Beneficiaries include staff from the General Directorate of Customs and Indirect Taxes, the General Directorate of Civil Protection, and Royal Air Maroc.
The training program also extends to students from prestigious schools such as the Mohammadia School of Engineers, the National School of Forestry Engineering, the Royal Institute of Territorial Administration, and the Mohammed VI International Academy of Civil Aviation.
